Best Hip-Hop Song by Yung Angie

NMM Selects Best Hip-Hop Song by Yung Angie ‘The Princess of Rap’
SACRAMENTO, CA — April 11, 2007, NetMusicMakers.com (“NMM”) today announced that rising Hip-Hop talent, Yung Angie, and her song, No Introduction, has been selected NMM’s Best Hip-Hop Song for February 2007. Teamed with multi-platinum and gold recording Hip-Hop artist, musician, producer, and songwriter, Studio ToN, Yung Angie was selected from over a thousand entries. The winning song will be featured in an upcoming CD release of Guitar World magazine and receive airplay on NMM Radio’s Hip-Hop and Rap Channel, Flava.

A native of McCrory, Arkansas, and dubbed “The Princess of Rap,” Yung Angie began her career at an early age. By 11, Angie had written and recorded numerous songs, winning several talent shows. At 13, with the help of her father and associates, she released a demo entitled, “HOTTISH” which caught the ear of a local record producer the led to her first CD. Now 16, Yung Angie has established her own blend of original lyrics layered between solid bass, crunks, and synths. “I chose this song because it has all of the things I was looking for,” stated Hip-Hop and Rap producer, Studio ToN. “The production and mix is good, the recording is good, the performance is great, great delivery, very convincing, and the music is original with nice mixing edits, good lyrical content. This song sounds very modern considering what plays on the radio today, so that’s why I think this is the overall best song.” Check out Studio ToN’s discography at http://www.netmusicmakers.com/Include/StaticPages/News/studio_ton.html.

In May, NMM will be searching for The Best Guitar Solo, including categories for Best Audio and Best Video Guitar Solos. Keep checking our website for rules and requirements. Also coming in May will be NMM’s Licks & Loops from the Legends. NMM members will be able to download selected ‘loops and licks’ from world class touring and studio musicians for royalty-free use on their recordings. While many will be available for purchase through NMM’s online store, each artist & musician is making availalbe some of their best licks, at no charge to NMM members.

Summons for Jury Duty Scams

Reggie Graves, our State of California law enforcement hero has issued the following alert.  Please take this very seriously.  Thank you.

OPSEC alert…pls be aware.

This has been verified by the FBI (Their link is also included below).

It is spreading fast so be prepared should you get this call.  Most of us take those summons for jury duty seriously, but enough people skip out on their civic duty, that a new and ominous kind of scam has surfaced.  The caller claims to be a jury coordinator. If you protest that you never received a summons for jury duty, the scammer asks you for your Social Security number and date of birth so he or she can verify the information and cancel the arrest warrant.  Give out any of this information and bingo, your identity just got stolen.  The scam has been reported so far in 11 states, including Oklahoma , Illinois and Colorado .  This (scam) is particularly insidious because they use intimidation over the phone to try to bully people into giving information by pretending they’re with the court system.

The FBI and the federal court system have issued nationwide alerts on their web sites, warning consumers about the fraud.

*Jack Ingram recently taped an installment of AOL Sessions set to premiere April 20th. This Week’s Highlights

*Jack Ingram Album Debuts Top 5 On Country Sales Chart
*Taylor Swift Crosses 12 Million Plays On Her MySpace Page
*
On Deck Next: Jack Ingram “Measure Of A Man”

ARTIST NEWSFLASH

*Jack Ingram earns his highest debut as his breakthrough album, THIS IS IT, lands at #4 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart, with first week sales of 26,425 units, sliding in right behind multi-platinum artists Tim McGraw, Carrie Underwood, and coming up just short of Alabama’s QVC-driven gospel project with only 55 less albums sold. THIS IS IT’s first single, Ingram’s rendition of “Lips of an Angel,” has found a home high on the radio charts and amongst the most-played videos with a #1 ranking on CMT. As the riveting live entertainer with a “rocking-raconteur stage presence” (Billboard), prepares to hit the road with superstar Brad Paisley on the Bonfires & Amplifiers Tour in late April, a slew of appearances will be keeping him busy, including a live performance on the CBS Saturday Early Show on April 14th. The singer-songwriter will also attend the CMT Awards on April 16th where he’s nominated in the Wide Open Country category alongside legends Johnny Cash, Jimmy Buffett and Sheryl Crow. And Jack will release the next single from THIS IS IT, the Radney Foster & Gordie Sampson-penned “Measure Of A Man” on April 23rd. For more information on Jack’s upcoming appearances, visit www.jackingram.net.

*Although she is maintaining a schedule busier than most people twice her age, 17-year-old singer-songwriter Taylor Swift says she is finding a way to successfully balance both school and work: “I’m still a junior in high school, and, yes, I’m home schooled. I actually call it bus-schooling or road-schooling. Haha! I’ve actually finished all of my Math credits, so now I’m just doing my Science, English, and History credits. It’s been pretty productive so far. I had to write an English term paper recently about something that interested me, so I picked the group Little Big Town. I wrote this ten page paper about them. When it came time to get a gift for them for their platinum album party, I just printed out my report and gave it to them!” Taylor will continue her studies on the road this spring as she kicks off her opening spot on Brad Paisley’s Bonfires & Amplifiers Tour. Taylor has also just been confirmed to appear at Chely Wright’s 7th Annual Benefit Concert for the Reading, Writing & Rhythm foundation on June 5th during CMA Music Fest week.

*Jimmy Wayne, who is gearing up for the May release of his new self-penned single “I’ll Never Leave You” on Big Machine, just bought his first home this week outside of Nashville. After spending his formative years in and out of foster homes, the North Carolina-native finds this moment extra special. “I tell you, I did go upstairs and say a short prayer,” recalls Jimmy after he finally signed the papers. “I thanked God for allowing me to finally having a home of my own. I remember when I was a homeless kid and all these memories came to me. I cant believe it…I finally have a home of my own. Now I can have people over, maybe hang up a few awards from the past and be proud that Ive got a home to do that in.”

*“They love Texas!” proudly proclaims Austin-based singer-songwriter Sunny Sweeney of European country music fans. Sunny, who just released her Big Machine debut Heartbreaker’s Hall Of Fame to critical acclaim, will be embarking on a European tour this summer. “The knowledge that Europeans have about country, real old school country, amazes me. I have had many conversations about some of my heroes with people from different countries, and they just respect the real stuff. One guy knew more about Merle Haggard than I did and I thought I knew everything about Merle,” notes Sunny. To check out Sunny’s international itinerary, visit her tour date section below.

*RANDOM NOTES: Taylor Swift has just been added as performer during CMA Music Fest in Nashville; Taylor will perform Sunday evening during the stadium show…Jimmy Wayne recently played a North Carolina homecoming show with all proceeds benefiting the Cleveland Rutherford Kidney Association. Jimmy’s fans supported a project entitled “Cheeks In Seats” which sponsored children from local foster and group homes to attend the concert…Dusty Drake will perform the national anthem during the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series O’Reilly Auto Parts 250 race on April 28th in Kansas City. Dusty’s performance will air live on Speed-TV…Jack Ingram will appear on GAC’s My Music Mix airing April 9th at 9PM ET. Jack is GAC’s April Artist Of The Month, and as part of the feature, he is answering a different fan question every day this month. THINGS YOU NEVER KNEW YOUR CELLPHONE COULD DO…

PRINT OUT AND SAVE THESE THEY WORK!

THINGS YOU NEVER KNEW YOUR CELLPHONE COULD DO…

There are a few things that can be done in time of

emergencies.

Your mobile phone can actually be a life saver or an emergency

tool for survival. Check out the things that you can do with it:

  *I*

* The Emergency Number worldwide for **Mobile** is 112 .* If you find yourself out of coverage area of your mobile network and there is an emergency, dial 112 and the mobile will search any existing network to establish the emergency number for you, and interestingly this number 112 can be dialed even if the keypad is locked. **Try it out.**

*II*

* Subj:  Locked your keys in the car? Does you car have remote keys?

This may come in handy someday. Good reason to own a cell phone.  If you lock your keys in the car and the spare keys are at home, call someone at home on their cell phone from your cell phone. Hold your cell phone about a   foot from your car door and have the person at your home press the unlock button, holding it near the mobile phone on their end. Your car will unlock. Saves someone from having to drive your keys to you. Distance is no object. You could be hundreds of miles away, and if you can reach someone who has the other “remote” for your car, you can unlock the doors (or the trunk).  Editor’s Note: *It works fine! We tried it out and it unlocked our car over a cell phone!”*

Also, did you know that your remote control car door fob can also act as a security agent?  Put your keys on the night stand next to your bed at night.  Should you hear someone in your house or trying to gain entrance press the security (panic) button and it will set off the car’s security system.  PS: know how to deactivate this feature so your neighbors can get back to sleep.  Press the panic button a second time or if your outside, place your key in the ignition.

*III*

Subj: Hidden Battery power

Imagine your cell battery is very low , you are expecting an important call and you don’t have a charger. Nokia instruments comes with a reserve battery.  To activate, press the keys *3370# Your cell will restart with this reserve and the instrument will show a 50% increase in battery. This reserve will get charged when you charge your cell next time.

*IV*

How to disable a STOLEN mobile phone?

To check your Mobile phone’s serial number, key in the following digits on your phone: * # 0 6 #

A 15 digit code will appear on the screen. This number is unique to your handset. Write it down and keep it somewhere safe. when your phone get stolen, you can phone your service provider and give them this code. They will then be able to block your handset so even if the thief changes the SIM card, your phone will be totally useless.

You probably won’t get your phone back, but at least you know that whoever stole it can’t use/sell it either. If everybody does this, there would be no point in people stealing mobile phones.

Please spread this useful information around

American Idol Songwriter’s Contestant Agreement - The Fine Print

CONTESTANT AGREEMENT

Introduction

The American Idol television series (“the Series”) is owned by 19 TV Limited (“19 TV”) and Fremantle Media North America Inc. The Series is in its sixth season – American Idol 6. 19 TV selects the songs to be performed by the contestants on the Series. 19 TV’s parent company, 19 Entertainment Limited, (“19 Entertainment”) is conducting a competition to find a new song for the winner of American Idol 6 to perform on the Series and to release as a commercial recording. This agreement sets out the terms upon which you may enter and participate in the American Idol Songwriter Competition (“the Competition”). In consideration of 19 Entertainment accepting you as a contestant in the Competition you agree to the terms set out in this agreement.

Eligibility requirements

Age – You (and each Co-Writer) must be at least 18 years old on 1 March 2007. You (and each co-writer) will be required to produce proof of your identity and age upon request.

Citizenship – You (and each Co-Writer) must be a United States citizen or a legal permanent resident of the United States.

Free to contract – You (and each Co-Writer) must not be party to a current exclusive song-writing agreement and your song must not be the subject of any existing music publishing agreement.

Your Song – Your song must consist of music and lyrics. The music and lyrics must both be 100% written by you (and your co-writers if any) and be original works. The music and lyrics of your song are together called “the Song”. You may only enter one Song.

Not Allowed To Enter – You are not allowed to enter the Competition if you or any of the Co-Writers are: employees or officers of 19 Entertainment, 19 TV, CKX Inc or any other company or corporation in the 19 or CKX Inc groups of companies; employees or officers of Fremantle Media North America, Inc, Fox Broadcasting Company or of any other company or corporation in the Fremantle Media or Fox groups of companies; employees or officers of AKQA or of any other company or corporation in the AKQA group of companies; or an immediate family member (spouse, mother, father, sister, brother, daughter or son) of or living in the same household (whether related or not) as anyone referred to in (a) (b) or (c) above.

The Competition

In order to enter the Competition you must: follow all registration requirements on the Competition’s website, including accepting the terms of this Agreement; submit one Song for entry into the Competition by sending a demonstration recording of the Song in MP3 or other acceptable format (“the Recording”) to the Competition website and a copy of the lyrics of the Song in WORD, PDF or other acceptable format (“the Lyric Sheet”); and pay the entry fee of US$10, which is non returnable.

By entering the Competition you grant to 19 Entertainment the following irrevocable rights throughout the World: the right to copy and store the Song, the Recording and the Lyric Sheet in any and all media; the right to copy and reproduce the Song, the Recording and the Lyric Sheet in any and all media for the purposes of the Competition (as defined below); the right to publicly perform the Song and the Recording in any and all media for the purposes of the Competition; the right to record and authorise others to record the Song for the purposes of the Competition; the right to synchronise the Song and the Recording with visual images for the purposes of the Competition; the right to use your name, likeness and biographical information and those of each Co-Writer for the purposes of the Competition; and the right to authorise others to do any or all of the above.

The expression “for the purposes of the Composition” referred to in 3.2 above includes: copying, reproduction, public performance and use on the Competition website, AmericanIdol.com and any other website associated with the Competition or the Series (such as a Sponsor’s website); use in advertisements, commercials and other promotions (whether in or out of context) for the Competition; recording the Song and authorising others to record the Song; and embodying the Song and recordings of the Song (including the Recording) in television programmes (including episodes of the Series) or other audio-visual productions synchronised with visual images for exploitation in any and all media and in advertisements and promotions for such television programmes or other audio-visual productions.

The Competition will comprise the following elements:

19 Entertainment will select twenty (20) songs from those entered to go forward for public voting on the Competition website. 19 Entertainment’s decision on the selection of the twenty songs (“the Top 20 Songs”) will be final; the public will be invited to vote to select the winning song from the Top 20 Songs. This vote will be either by voting on the Competition website or by a telephone vote; the winning song will be the song receiving most public votes.

If the Song is selected by 19 Entertainment as one of the Top 20 Songs, you (and all Co-Writers) will be required to enter into a further agreement with 19 Entertainment (“the Publishing Agreement”) as a condition of you continuing in the Competition. The Publishing Agreement will grant to 19 Entertainment (or its publishing designee) the exclusive right to publish the Song (but not any other music or lyrics you may have written) for a period of ten (10) years in return for an advance to you of $10,000 against a royalty to you of 75% ‘at source’ worldwide.

If the Song is not selected by 19 Entertainment as one of the Top 20 Songs the Song will be held in reserve should the Writer of any of the Top 20 Songs fail to enter into the Publishing Agreement. If the Song is not used as a reserve no use of the Song or Recording will be made, but the Song , the Recording and the Lyric Sheet you submitted will be stored by 19 Entertainment.

If the Song wins the Competition, it will be recorded by the winner of American Idol 6, performed at the finale of American Idol 6 and released as a commercial recording for sale to the public in compact disc and electronic formats. You (and any of your Co-Writers) will receive royalties pursuant to the Publishing Agreement for all commercial exploitation of the Song (other than for use of the Song for the purposes of the Competition).

Co-Writers

If the Song is written by you together with one or more others (“Co-Writers”), you confirm that you have the authority of the Co-Writers to enter into this Agreement on their behalf. If the Song is selected as one of the Top 20 Songs you and all your Co-Writers will be required to confirm in writing that you and all Co-Writers are bound by this Agreement, failing which the Song will be replaced in the Top 20 and excluded from the Competition.

The Recording

You confirm that the Recording is owned 100% by you and any Co-Writers and that you have the right to grant to us all rights in the Recording set out in this Agreement. If you do not perform on the Recording or are not the only performer on the Recording you confirm that you have all necessary consents and permissions to make and exploit the Recording.

General Terms

The Competition is a winner-take-all competition. There will be no consolation prizes except as 19 Entertainment may otherwise determine in its sole discretion.

Contestant collusion is prohibited. Any contestants found conspiring or colluding with another contestant will be ejected from the Competition.

All decisions regarding the Competition, including but not limited to rules, eligibility, song selection, voting methods, voting results, disqualification determinations and the awarding of prizes are at 19 Entertainment’s sole and exclusive discretion, are final, binding and are not subject to challenge or appeal. 19 Entertainment reserves the right to disqualify contestants from the Competition for any reason in its sole discretion. 19 Entertainment is the sole judge of the outcome of each round of the Competition and 19 Entertainment’s decision is final and binding and not subject to challenge or appeal.

19 Entertainment may at any time and in its sole discretion, add or subtract a round of competition from the Competition; and/or determine the method of voting to be used for such additional round(s). 19 Entertainment may at any time and in its sole discretion reinstate into the Competition a song which had previously been eliminated.

By entering the Competition you accept and agree to be bound by this Agreement and by the decisions of 19 Entertainment which decisions shall be final and binding on all matters relating to all aspects of the Competition. The rules of the Competition are subject to change at any time for any reason, with or without notice, in 19 Entertainment’s sole discretion, and such changes shall not be subject to challenge or appeal.

You (and each Co-Writer) agree to release, hold harmless and indemnify 19 Entertainment, Fremantle Media North America Inc., Fox Broadcasting Company, AKQA, all production personnel, participating television stations, and their respective parents, affiliated and subsidiary companies, affiliates, advertisers, and their respective officers, directors, employees, agents and representatives (collectively, the “Released Parties”) from and against any and all liabilities, claims, actions, damages, expenses and losses of any kind arising from or relating to the Song, the Recording, or any statement or action or omission in connection with your participation in the Competition, any related television programme and/or the making, taping, use, editing, distribution, exhibition, licensing, advertising, promoting, broadcast and/or webcast of such programme.

You understand and agree that all publicity in connection with the Competition is under the sole control of 19 Entertainment. You agree to consult with 19 Entertainment regarding any and all publicity (including, but not limited to, television, radio and print interviews) in connection with your involvement with the Competition and shall not perform or consent to perform any publicity without prior written approval of the 19 Entertainment.

You agree to treat all information and material that you receive or acquire during your participation in the Competition as strictly confidential and not to disclose any such information to any third party.

SOME THOUGHTS ON THE DIGITAL MUSIC FORUM, PART 1
The American Dream Is Myspace, The American Disease Is The
Music Industry

I was walking through Battery Park the other day and there
was a very realistic mini-me Statue Of Liberty getting all
interactive with a couple of its admirers. I like that.
Fifty yards further north there was another Statuette
engaged in photo op. Ironically I came upon this very analog
interaction on my way to the Digital Music Forum where I
gained entry, by way of mediachannel.org, posing as a
journalist.

Special announcement for Buzz Factor ezine subscribers

New Edition of Guerrilla Music Marketing Handbook

Guerrilla Music Marketing Handbook I wanted you to know that I just released a new revised and updated edition of the Guerrilla Music Marketing Handbook — my longtime best-selling title.

Over the last few months I’ve been going through the old edition and making lots of changes. The book now features four new chapters (most of them on Internet promotion) AND a brand new cover.

Check out this page for complete details on the new edition (and the five bonuses that come with it):
www.bob-baker.com/buzz/music_marketing.htm

Good News: Amazon is currently selling the new edition for just $19.77. If you want to order the book there, go for it. Just forward your Amazon email receipt to MrBuzzFactor@gmail.com — and I’ll still send you a link to the bonus reports and audio file.

Please use this Amazon link:
www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/097148385X/thecreativeout02

Note: If you want an autographed copy, you’ll have to order through my web site at the regular price.

I’m really proud of the brand new edition of this classic book and I know that you’ll love it too.

Again, read all about the new Guerrilla Music Marketing Handbook here:

*** BREAKING BAD THINKING HABITS by  Daylle Deanna Schwartz

Sometimes you need to mind your head before you can mind your music. When
you’re in the habit of thinking on a one-way street, YOU can be the main
deterrent to progress. We all get into ruts and continue to do things the same
way – ways that don’t get us anywhere. It can be easier to complain
than to do something about it. Before you scramble to find another path, think
about your head, because change begins in your thoughts. They control what
happens to you.

Want to be a victim? Many people act like they do by continuously breeding a
negative mindset. In her interview below, Dorothy Potter talks about how she get
rids of the naysayers who try to reinforce victimhood and what they see as they
impossible task of succeeding in music. I’ve seen that many of them are
too lazy to do the work or have no talent, and must chew up those who want to
get ahead. Since they can’t do it, they try to convince others not to
bother. Don’t listen! Obstacles can be overcome with hard work,
determination, and talent. Don’t make statements that defeat you like:

* “Why should a manager ever want to represent me?” That belief can
attract what you expect. If you don’t believe you can get a manager, you
probably won’t. Professionals can smell insecurity and run from it. Ask
yourself why you don’t feel worthy of representation. If it’s
because others say it’s hard to get, stop! Let go of negative messages.
Many musicians do get managers. Ask yourself, “Why not me?” Or
develop yourself more so that you’re more appealing to someone for
representation.

* “Nobody comes to my gigs.” Keep saying that if you want to play
to empty rooms! That belief will hold you back from promoting your shows and
inviting people to come. Your attitude won’t be attractive to music
lovers. When your performance is good, people will hear about it. Keep
practicing and people will come. Leave what happened in the past in the past and
live for now. “Now people are going to come to see me play.”

* “There’s too much competition for me to succeed.” There is
no competition if you’re good and work hard. Snuff out those thoughts and
get out into the music world. There’s plenty of room for talent. Now if
you don’t have any, that’s another story. But if you do, accept that
the only competition for success is the thoughts in your head that hold you
back! The good news is you can change them if you choose to.

* “A producer said my songs aren’t strong enough so I’ll
never make it.” True, if you let it stop you. Or, take songwriting
workshops and improve! Few songwriters start out being able to write hits. It
takes time to do that. Make time to write with others and learn from pros. Weak
songs don’t sell. But like exercising your body makes it stronger,
exercising your creativity and learning from feedback will help you write
stronger material.

Studies show that the brain behaves differently when you repeat the same thought
over and over. Our thoughts truly become reality. And you can choose to make it
a good reality by choosing good thoughts and letting them roll through your
mind, replacing those like “Woe is me,” or “I’ll never
get there.” Why not? You can choose to keep believing you can’t or
reprogram your thoughts and KNOW that you can.

We create patterns with our thoughts. Norman Vincent Peale said, “Change
your thoughts and you change the world.” It’s your choice to have
ones that defeat your dreams. Success begins in the head. If you believe
it’s yours, it will be if you don’t lose faith. It may take longer
than you’d like. But you’ll reach where you need to be if you
don’t begin to think that it won’t happen. You have the power to get
rid of negative thoughts and beliefs about you. Otherwise, they’ll grow
and become toxic if you don’t clean them out of your mind. It’s YOUR
choice. Always YOUR choice!

Things will go wrong. That’s life. Even with my total faith in God, I get
setbacks and problems too. I’ll feel down for a bit. But I work on getting
my mind set firmly in my faith. I don’t moan, “Why me?” too
often. I allow myself to feel down for a bit. Then I begin talking to God and
doing what I can to bring my mind back in synch with my beliefs. It’s not
easy. But you can do it by talking to yourself, and to your higher being.
Negative thoughts reflect a lack of faith. What a waste! Faith manifests
incredible miracles when you use it. So use it!
